Eli Klein Gallery has an international reputation as one of the foremost galleries specializing in Chinese contemporary art and continues to advance the careers of its represented artists and hundreds of other Chinese artists with whom it has collaborated. The Gallery has facilitated the loan of artwork to over 100 museum exhibitions throughout the world, published more than 40 books, and has been featured on CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, and countless other international publications and broadcasts.
The Gallery was founded by Eli Klein and operated a street-level space at 462 West Broadway in SoHo between 2007 and 2013. During these formative years, it established a reputation for introducing to the West fresh, contemporary, and often challenging works by rising Chinese talents.
In 2013, the Gallery relocated to a street-level space at 525 West 22nd Street in Chelsea to accommodate increasingly ambitious large-scale projects and the visions of its artists. In the same year, Klein partnered with collaborator Shanna Sun to form Klein Sun Gallery.
In 2018, the Gallery announced an upgraded location opening at 398 West Street (between Charles and W 10th) in the trendiest part of the West Village, just blocks from the new Whitney Museum and the commencement point for the High Line. This is amongst the most coveted areas of New York City. This new location is in a historic, landmarked Federal-style row house carrying special cultural and aesthetic value to the City of New York. We occupy 3 levels of the building with approximately 3,000 square feet boasting 13-foot ceilings on the street-level. In conjunction with this evolution, we were pleased to announce that the Gallery's name had transitioned from Klein Sun to Eli Klein.
As America’s leading dealer of Chinese contemporary art, Eli Klein actively promotes cross cultural awareness and investment at the highest level amongst the some of the world’s most influential nations.
